My work mainly consists of landscape painting using oil paint and acrylic gouache, focusing on pattern and texture and the use of contrasting color techniques. I apply pattern studies to what I make to separate land and space. I manipulate and incorporate patterns into space in relation to the landscape and shapes within the landscape. My landscapes are intended to be reflections of the way I read the land around me and the patterns I pick up from what I see around me in a simplified and minimalistic fashion. It is important to me to create pieces that are captivating and personal, inviting the viewer to explore what the landscape means to them and how they would interact in the spaces I paint.
