Born and raised in Clemson, South Carolina, I have always had a curiosity to explore the land around me that seems to change drastically two hours north or three hours south. I grew up with a paintbrush in hand and vividly remember riding in the backseat listening to John Mayer songs my dad would whistle as he would wind my mom, sister and me around wavy mountains and under shady oak trees that lined my childhood. My work now reflects the land that has been the background of my life as well as places where I have traveled that leave me feeling alive and charged with excitement. I embraced a passion to paint my reaction to landscape when I transferred to Clemson University in 2020, and now I see a chance to make a pattern everywhere I look. There is so much to depict when scouting out land and attempting to paint my reaction of how I breathe it in; my paintings are merely a reflection of how I see the world around me.
